It is common to think about making a Will at some point but only 30 percent of us have actually done so. Even the most sensible of us often wrongly assume that making a Will is something that can be put off until tomorrow.
Unfortunately the absence of a Will, or poorly written document, can mean instructions on dealing with your estate are unclear and lack legal standing. This can lead to disputes over property, belongings and finance.
Here at Craigen Wilders and Sorrell we offer an expert, yet competitively priced Will Writing Service specially tailored to the client’s individual circumstances and requirements.
Our long-established Probate Department understands how upsetting it is when a loved one passes away. This is often exacerbated by the responsibilities of having to deal with an estate. It is our aim to assist you through this time by making every step of the way straightforward as possible.
We offer professional but sensitive guidance. Our service begins as soon as you need us and includes notifying banks and other relevant parties, calculating the IHT, applying for and obtaining the Grant of Probate, preparation of estate accounts and distributing the estate.
We can also deal with estates where a Will may not been made.

Lasting Powers of Attorney
A Lasting Power of Attorney (“LPA”) is a legal document that allows you to appoint one or more people to make decisions on your behalf during your lifetime. A LPA is a completely separate legal document to your Will although many people put them in place at the same time to plan for the future.
Why a Lasting Power of Attorney is so important?
Once you have a LPA you and your family have peace of mind as there is someone you trust to look after your affairs if you become unable to do so yourself during your lifetime if you become incapacitated either physically or mentally.
Having LPAs in place allows your Attorney to deal with your finances and property as well as make decisions about your health and welfare. Your LPA can include binding instructions together with general references for your Attorney to consider.
At Cragen Wilders and Sorrell we can prepare and register your LPA but should such not be appropriate for your particular needs, we can assist with applications to the Court of Protection too.
